Realised that Ritalin hinders my particular learning style.
I’m a slow learner and a slow reader. Ritalin can help bigtime with making sure you’re sitting down and your eyes are actually focussed on the page and moving across letters. But that’s about it.
I daydream when I read. The majority of the daydreaming probably has nothing to do with what I’m reading, but perhaps say a third of it does. When I daydream about what I’m reading I gain a depth of knowledge about the subject by throwing around variations on it and exploring what is logically entailed by it. Eg in Maths I can be an average student by learning applications in several different contexts, but true understanding comes when my brain has already ventured out to logical conclusions by itself. Then any novel situation can be dealt with. Ritalin blocks this whole phenomenon from happening.

Lack of Imagination, Premature Conclusions, Arrogance
I’m insane about this. Hear me out.
The inability to imagine something does not preclude its possibility. You’re the one with the limitation, not the Universe. Lack of imagination can be responsible for environmental disasters, public health crises, discrimination, scientific stagnation.
People without empathy imagination become racist, sexist and chauvinist in general. They can’t understand people with mental illnesses or even people just going through grief or drug dependency issues.
Lack of imagination causes accidents in the house. What? You can’t imagine how not following a manufacturer’s advice could cause eg a fire? It must be a logical impossibility then!
Lack of imagination causes illness. Just because I can’t give you a concrete, specific account of exactly how one day GM food will damage your body does not mean that it won’t.
And just because you can’t imagine how a piece of illicit information can reach a particular person doesn’t mean that it won’t.
It is unbelievably arrogant to think that the Universe ends at the bounds of your own imagination.

Moron of the Day: Alexa Moses on Borat
Doesn’t appear to understand that we’re laughing at Americans’ ignorance of foreigners. That they actually think foreigners are capable of acting so impolitely. The way they patronise him, the unfortunate non-American. And the other side of the coin is laughing at how behind some cultures are with overcoming sexism, etc.
